Western websites are difficult to access in China. Some take an unacceptably long time to load, while others are outright blocked. This is all due to the existence of the Great Firewall of China.
Simply translating a website into Chinese is not enough to reach Chinese users. Aside from the issue of the website being inaccessible in China, Chinese search engines are not responsive to websites optimized for Google. The only solution is to launch a website hosted in China. This way, it will become accessible and load quickly for Chinese users.
Salvane provides services for launching websites in China, including local hosting and ICP license management.
Benefits of having your own
website in the Chinese internet
A foreign company or brand has its own space in China where it can share its story, especially if it does not engage in communication via social media.
A local website operates quickly, which prevents discouraging customers from exploring its content.

The website is optimized for local SEO, using Chinese hashtags and tailored to the algorithms of search engines like Baidu and WeChat.
A website showcasing your offerings in Chinese and your brands serves as evidence of trademark usage. This helps protect your rights and prevents the expiration of your trademark.

You can purchase a *.cn domain for a foreign company, but be aware that to launch a website in China, you will need a Chinese company to grant its license as required for hosting a website in China and applying for an ICP certificate. This means the Chinese domain must be assigned to that Chinese company.
If you do not decide to transfer the domain to a Chinese company, you will need to establish your company in China and link the domain to it, which will allow you to apply for hosting and an ICP certificate. A company eligible for this process must be registered as a WOFE (ang. Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise).
The development and launch of a website in China costs no less than EUR 3000. The cost depends on various factors related to the website itself, such as the design, number of subpages, the volume of text for translation, the presence of interactive elements (e.g., CMS), whether the client has a Chinese company to register the hosting and ICP license, the number of elements to be produced for the Chinese site (text, images, animations, videos), and the frequency of planned updates to the website content.
No, website optimization for Chinese search engines is not included in the website launch package.
